Gas metal arc welding is more commonly called MIG welding.
The best practice for learning to weld an open butt root pass might just be a corner joint on 3/16″ metal. The material is much cheaper than beveled V groove plates and the practice is almost the same as the real deal.

  1. Hello, your videos have helped me out a lot. I barely have a year experience, but at the job interviews they are asking for overhead open root, and also vertical open root can you please do a video, of mig, or flux core 3g and 4g open root.
